Mt. Constitution I sit and watch the world go by/ and wonder why we’re all here. I sit and watch the islands shine/ the sun in the sky, it’s all mine. And the woods around me roll/ on my back I can feel the cold. And I wake each day to feeling alone/ knowing that I am home. And I wake each day in a bright new way/ it’s a feelin’ I never have known. And the woods below me roam/ on my chest I can feel the cold. I could worry away this perfect day/ not knowing where she goes. But tomorrow is near and we cannot fear/ the beauty of the unknown. The woods around me roam/ in my heart I can’t feel the cold. The woods around me roam/ in my heart I can’t feel cold. So sit and watch our world go by/ keep wondering why we’re all here. Just sit and watch the islands shine/ the sun in the sky, it’s all mine.

Lost in the Woods I’m like a bird to the wind/ I like the sky bending in. For the jays on my roof/ and the white flowers too. And like a storm to the sea/ just like I try to be. Keeping still in your room/ is as cold as a tomb. We were only just kids/ we were only just friends/ You got lost in the woods/ It’s so hard to be good/ Oh but I understood. Where are you now? Can I come along? We’ll set a fire to the road/ that we’ve taken on. Just like the old dogwood tree/ and the scars on my knees/ We could stay out all night/ Telling tales of great fright. Cause we were only just kids/ we were only just friends/ You got lost in the woods it’s so hard to be good/ Oh but I understood. Where are you now? Can I come along? And set a fire to the road/ that we’ve taken on.

Grayland, WA 02:58
Grayland, WA Well it’s mornings like this/ when I wish the sun won’t rise/ and pray the man in the moon still held up the sky. Violent Charlie Brown/ with your coffee colored stare/ twist your fingers round her neck/ till you’re halfway there. And if I thought you were the devil/ I’d stop answering your call. If I thought you were the devil, boy/ I wouldn’t sing to you at all. Let’s go back to Grayland/ start a love that don’t exist. You won’t accept my letter/ the only thing I wished. And if I thought you were the devil/ I’d stop answering your call. If I thought you were the devil, boy/ I wouldn’t sing to you at all.

Honest Blood 03:41
Honest Blood In the calm quiet moments of the morning/ gulls of white float on by. Miles of deep below the surface/ there’s a chance I could die. I’m too lucky to write of sorrow/ feels like lies beneath my pen. Poorly pronounced by my wry lips/ I have never told of dread. Calmly heal the proctor/ who has taken me to bed. Tell him I have never suffered/ and can’t heal with words unsaid. Can your brother bring you to me/ does his knife draw honest blood? Will he love his daughter truly/ and sleep well when day is done? Don’t you know that I am fragile/ cut my teeth on your stained skin. ‘Neath the water warm and ruly/ as I watched the spring begin. I’m your lover and your teacher/ save my soul beseech your mind. Find the treasures in the forest/ keep them safe, keep them blind. Can your mother tell me truly/ does she spin an honest tale? Will your love for her continue/ and not sleep beneath the veil? Calmly heal the proctor/ who has taken me to bed. Tell him I have never suffered/ and can’t heal with words unsaid.

Little Miss Troublesome Little Miss Troublesome looks through the gate and says “Hello/ how will I know?” Little Miss I-Don’t-Know-You-But-I-Want-To says/ “If you stay I’ll stand right next to you straight as an arrow”. So come and sit next to me/ teach me to run through the meadow/ and I will not let go. Let go. Spring has come too soon. Forget the shadows round the moon. Young princey boys tell her/ she should just stick to her garden. To harden. But she don’t wanna stay/ only wild horses will pardon/ her garden. And tough as a thumbtack/ she’ll stick to the wall like a fly now/ to spy now on all her pretty things. Won’t go to bed/ cause she knows what will meet her inside them. Hide them. Spring has come too soon. Forget the shadows round the moon. Little Miss Troublesome looks through the gate and says “Hello”.

Go East 02:56
Go East Go East till you find her/ and go East till you’re dead. Tell her all your worries/ and lay down your sweet head. For over the mountain range and over the land/ is where you won’t find her, young gypsy man. Go East till you find her/ and go East till you’re dead. Tell her you’re so sorry/ and lay down your sweet head. For over the mountain range and over the land/ is where you won’t find her, young gypsy man. The wolves they will lead you/ they’ll drink from your hands. Carry your misses darlin/ here’s hoping that you can. For over the mountain range and over the land/ is where you won’t find her. For over the mountain range and over the land/ is where you won’t find her. They’ll drink till they die in the crystal gray sky/ they’ll drink till their head’s on the ground. We’ll pack up our things and move out the West/ where sorrow is never around. Never around. Never around. Go West till you’ve found him/ and go West to your bed. Carry your mister darlin/ here’s hoping that you can. For over the mountain range and over the land/ is where you won’t find him, your young gypsy man.

Black Feathers Black feathers flyin’ free from the mountain top/ stirrin’ around the bend. I was a pretty girl in the countryside/ now it’s years from then. Come sing a little song to me Abigail/ daughter I never knew. One thing about this land that I love/ is a man whose eyes aren’t blue. Hazel eyes in the summertime/ washing the fears from off my back. He ain’t say a lot of words/ but I know that the way he looks at me is right on track. Don’t let a little girl travel down/ a clean and dirtless road. It ain’t an awful way to go/ but I heard you just end up old. Don’t you know you should test the water/ ‘fore you drink it down. Jumpin’ in is just a little different/ float until you touch the ground. All my friends have got these plans/ to grow up big and tall. So they reach the highest branch of the apple tree/ shake it watch ‘em fall. You’ve a funny little way/ of takin’ the air from out my lungs. It’s a dirty little trick/ but you like to say it’s all in fun. And you, you won’t ever turn me blue. Won’t ever treat me/ like the other boys they used to do. Don’t you know you should test water/ ‘fore you drink it down. Jumpin’ in is just a little different/ float until you touch the ground. Black feathers flyin’ free from the mountain top/ stirrin’ around the bed. I was a pretty girl in the countryside/ now it’s years from then.

Sing Child, Sing! Sing child, sing child/ sing like you were born. Sing like you were born today/ sing like you were born. Move child, move child/ like you have two feet. Dance like you were born today/ and couldn’t keep a beat. Laugh child, laugh child/ shake your weary head. Laugh a spell and if you can/ keep laughing till you’re dead. Don’t let the world become your shoulder/ who will it have to lean upon? For you will know when you are older/ you are the one it’s leaning on. You are the one it’s leaning on. Speak child, speak child/ let them hear your voice. Speak about the ones you love/ speak for your own choice. Ring child, ring child/ bells for better days. Ring out cries of freedom/ for the children in their chains. Don’t let the world become your shoulder/ who will it have to lean upon? For you will know when you are older/ you are the one it’s leaning on. You are the one it’s leaning on.

Sleeping In 02:41
Sleeping In Sleeping in/ day is done. Keeping in/ feeling that something’s wrong. Coats of paint tell the story of memories past/ like the lines of our faces/ scars of three years passed. You have given so proudly all that you can. And I would give to you everything/ all that I can. And take back all you can stand. Sleeping in/ day is over now. Trying not to take/ all of this out on myself. I went to a party/ and there was nobody there. I went to the bar and I sat in my chair. I wish you were with me/ and I wish we were alone. And I would say “darlin’, darlin’/ darlin’ come on home!” Darlin’ come on home... ...and start sleeping in/ day is over now. I need you to know/ and I want you to believe. These dreams are a nightmare/ they mean nothing to me. Now I’m sleeping in/ day is done.
